Materials in the EPA series describe several research projects, each concerned with developing devices or surgical methods which compensate for various heart, limb, and gastrointestinal ailments. The experimental, administrative, and publicity aspects of these different projects are represented to varying degrees in the following six sub-series: Pacemaker, Adynamic Paralytic Ileus Stimulation, Phrenic Nerve Stimulation, Bladder Stimulation, Coordinated Limb Movement, and Other. The Pacemaker and Bladder Stimulator projects are covered most extensively and required further subdivision. Specific material types throughout the EPA sub-series include correspondence, professional and layperson inquiries, patient lists, medical files, human and animal data sheets, publications, forms, printed matter, photographs, drafts, and memoranda. Folders within each sub-series are arranged alphabetically by folder title.
