 File — Box: 3, Folder: 2

Collection Summary

From the Collection:

The NLM's collection of papers relating to the AAMSI was a gift from Dr. William A. Bauman. These are not the official archives of the organization, but rather reflect Dr. Bauman's long and productive involvement with the association. Dr. Bauman holds a unique position in the organizational history of the AAMSI in that he had been a member of SCM since its inception, and served as the SCM's president in 1981?82 during the period of its merger with SAMS to form the AAMSI. He was subsequently elected president of AAMSI in 1983 and continued to be active in the organization as a member of the Board of Directors and to serve on various committees. His records, therefore, reflect the historical development of all three organizations (SCM, SAMS, AAMSI).

The material in the collection covers the years from 1972 to 1984. Included is material from all three organizations. Series have been established for each organization, and for the brief period when the SCM and SAMS worked and met together just prior to the formation of AAMSI. Documents for each of the organizations are similarly grouped into bylaws and other organizational documents, Executive Committee minutes, Board of Directors minutes, policies, financial statements, membership records, annual conferences and congresses, committees, correspondence, and external organizations. In each grouping is found correspondence, memoranda, minutes, and printed material.
