Consists of copies of documents concerning the proposed transfer of the Library from the Army Medical Dept. to a civilian agency. Includes relevant documents prior to 1948.

Especially of interest are the summary histories in Box 1, information on proposed new buildings, merger plans with the Library of Congress, and the very thorough records detailing Mary L.
