Series 10: Philip Reichert papers, 1929-1988
Scope and Contents
The majority of this series is comprised of correspondence and circulars. Also included, however, are significant amounts of reports, publications, and Dr. Reichert's own historical collections. While this subgroup is not comprehensive, it includes significant information on topics not covered elsewhere in the archives. Dr. Reichert served the College consecutively as Secretary, (1949-1959), Executive Director, (1959-1965), and Executive Director Emeritus/College Historian, (1965-1985). He was one of the College's founding members and in many ways one of the most important guiding forces in its early years. In addition, he was a cardiologist, medical inventor, and medical historian. This collection of his papers illuminates Dr. Reichert's character as a man, his role in the College, and the history of the College itself. Most of the material in this subgroup was collected by Dr. Reichert in his home in New York City and shipped to Heart House in sections.
