The collection consists primarily of articles authored or co-authored by Dr. Mannix, often including drafts and original versions of illustrations (1949-1970). Writings by others (1943-1973) include the John Alexander monograph series (1957-1959) whose introductions are authored by one of Mannix's colleagues, Cameron Haight, and a work on heart surgery (1963) inscribed to Dr. Mannix by author E. Economopoulos. There is some disparate biographical information. Thirty four folders and two volumes contain documentation of surgical procedures and patient interactions, access to which is restricted.
