Scope and Contents

This series contains correspondence, reports, charts, and other data concerning Chalmers' Hepatitis Study in Japan. In 1951 he was the principal investigator of the hepatitis treatment research unit of Harvard Medical School in Kyoto, Japan. This study was later used by Chalmers to disprove the common belief that long periods of bed rest was beneficial to those suffering from acute infectious hepatitis. The series is arranged alphabetically by file folder.
