Description

In this study of mild hypertensive patients who stopped drug treatment, Freis, Kharti, and Levinson determined that it was possible for hydrochlorothiazide and related diuretics to produce long-term changes in some patients that persist after withdrawal from treatment. The findings suggested that for a small percentage of patients with mild hypertension, the life-long use of antihypertensive drugs was not required.
