Description

Along with being a pioneer in hypertension treatment, Freis was a pioneer in the evolution of controlled double-blind clinical trials. In this article, he argued that patients in clinical trials must be protected from hazards by prior trials in animals and acute trials in patients, as well as effective design, careful observation, and prompt reporting of toxicity.
