Description

In this interview Koop predicted that AIDS would claim between 50 and 100 million lives worldwide by the early years of the 21st century and that discovery of a cure or vaccine lay beyond the foreseeable future. He nonetheless warned against coercive public health measures in fighting the disease, such as mandatory testing and notification of partners of AIDS carriers, because such measures would drive underground those at greatest risk of exposure to AIDS.
