Biographical Note

John Shaw Billings, 1838-1913, completed his course work at Cincinnati's Medical College of Ohio in 1860. He then undertook his residency at the Commercial Hospital and Lunatic Asylum of Ohio. He remained affiliated with the Medical College until he joined the Army Medical Department in 1861.
