Scope and Contents From the Series: School materials prior to 1955 are located in the committee correspondence. In 1955, program files were organized by school except for the Emory and Columbia programs. These materials, including questionnaires mailed to their graduates from 1951 to 1955, are located in the general committee files. Helen B. Schmidt's correspondence is interfiled in the series. In 1973 the Comittee's function changed. The Division of Education handled course approval and certification became a larger concern....

Scope and Contents From the Series: Membership lists are placed at the beginning of the series along with rosters of members of the committee and blank application forms. A committee procedure manual c. 1957-61 is placed near the begining of the series. Institutional Memberships for the period from 1956-circa 1963 have information on the size of the library, staffing, and history. After 1963 a new form dropped this information and required instead a list of current subscription journals. These have been discarded. Rejected...

The Chairperson of the CoCo committee was the President-Elect of the MLA. Some presidential papers related to the committee were accidentally included in this series. Materials relating to committee appointments, especially copies of letters asking individuals to serve and appointment request forms, were discarded. The remaining material related to the charges of committees.
