The collection consists of ephemera that portray women in medicine as collected by William Helfand. Among the images are portraits, comics, fine art, chromolithographs, and advertisements. Included in the collection are engravings of nurses Edith Cavell and Florence Nightingale, postcards of women physicians, pharmacists and nurses, including some which derogate professional women, and chromolithographs of women practicing first aid.
