Description
In the 1980s, some clinicians voiced concern that diuretics used to treat hypertension might cause potassium depletion, that would in turn trigger heart attacks in some patients. Others noted that diuretics also appeared to raise cholesterol levels. Freis and many colleagues contested this view, citing a large body of past and present clinical studies.
