Description

This "current status" report--one of many that Freis wrote throughout his long career--was completed just prior to thiazide diuretics becoming available for use in hypertension treatment. The National Medical Association was established in 1895 by African-American physicians unable to join the AMA because of their race.

Part of the Cardiovascular Conferences of Howard University and Freedman's Hospital, II, February 26, 1956.
