Description
In this speech given at the Bulletin Civic Service Committee Workshop on Mental Health in Philadelphia, Gorman developed themes he would use in many subsequent addresses on community mental health resources: the need to involve primary care physicians as the first line of defense against mental health problems; the need to include psychiatric units in general hospitals; the need to establish treatment facilities for emotionally disturbed children; the need for more flexible facilities for psychiatric treatment; and the need for follow-up care for patients discharged from mental hospitals.
