Biographical Note

United States Military Academy graduate Lt. Col. George Durfee Deshon, 1865-1917, was commissioned lieutenant and assistant surgeon of the Army Medical Corps in 1890, upon his graduation from New York's Bellevue Hospital Medical College. Deshon also graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1893. He served in the medical corps thereafter until his death, with duties including commander of the Army and Navy General Hospital... in Hot Springs, Ark., and commander of Ancon Hospital in the Panama Canal Zone.
