Biographical Note

Henri Fouquet, 1727-1806, was born in Montpellier, France. In 1759 he graduated from the Jardin du Roi in Paris. He initially served in military hospitals and established a reputation as a medical scholar. During the 1780s he taught at the Imbert and Barthez medical school in Paris and returned to Montpellier to teach when the medical schools were reorganized. His influential teaching method was described in Speech on the clinic (1803).
