Drawings

Illustrations, photographs, negatives, slides, and correspondence document the artistic career of Howard Bartner, a NIH medical illustrator. The bulk of the collection includes pen and ink sketches, paintings, line drawings, and chalk illustrations.

Neuroanatomist, member of the faculty of Emory University, 1914-1920, and Cornell Medical School, 1920-1950, and Director of the Laboratory for Biological Research, Columbus State Hospital, Ohio, 1951-1958. Contains correspondence, photographs, typescripts, diagrams, drawings, notes and printed matter chiefly documenting Papez' work in comparative neuroanatomy from 1920 to 1958, as well as his curatorship of the Wilder Brain Collection at Cornell University.

Personal correspondence volume consists of letters chiefly to his mother and friends as well as his education at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Medical illustrations volume depicts tissues, muscles, bones, and aspects of various anatomical tracts and systems produced for an unknown course in 1913.
