Medical notes relating to the administration of chloroform
Holograph notes made by Edward Milner describing two cases (1874 Aug 31; 1876 Mar 17) wherein he administered chloroform to patients that died shortly thereafter. He describes each case in detail, including patient reaction to the chloroform, his attempt to revive the patient and his medical conclusions about the events. Notes from the second event were recorded for Dr. T. Lauder Brunton.

In 1867 he discovered that amyl nitrate effectively relieved pain of angina pectoris. Brunton is credited with developing the discipline of pharmacology.
