UNPROCESSED COLLECTION. These mostly educational films were produced by both smaller, independent companies and major filmmaking entities during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. Topics range from concerns about overpopulation to the function of human organs to divorce and racial prejudice. Many of the films deal with mental health, child development, and the health of the environment.

Biographical/Historical Note
The Northwest Film Forum is a Seattle, Washington nonprofit film and arts center. It presents hundreds of films, festivals, community events, multidisciplinary performances, and public discussions each year. The Forum offers educational workshops and artist services for film and media makers, with access to space, equipment, fiscal sponsorship, and an edit lab. In 2016, the Foum began to search for a new home for its large collection of 16mm educational and instructional films. The National Library of Medicine selected more than 160 films with health and medical themes to add to its collection.
Collection Summary
These 163 films were produced for educational, instructional, and entertainment purposes. Their focus is health, broadly defined, inclduding environmental, workplace, community, family, and individual health. Notable are several films that examine the work of B.F. Skinner, the Ascent of Man series about evolution, and many titles that address child development and the unique stressors children may face.
