Description

In this article, Anfinsen reported evidence that suggested that the accumulation of abnormally low-density lipoproteins in plasma was the result of deficiencies in the mechanisms for normal degradation of the substances. Anfinsen argued that these homeostatic mechanisms that aid in the substances' ability to maintain internal equilibrium by adjusting their physiological processes might also apply to lipids, which act similarly to the hormonal control of blood sugar.
