Description

In this article, Anfinsen, Schecter, and Chen reported one of the first direct measurements of the folding of proteins to their native conformation from a disordered state by use of a stopped-flow spectrofluorometer. Understanding protein folding was seen as an essential intermediate step to obtaining the information of the genetic code for the biological function of the corresponding protein or polypeptide chain.
