Description

In this chapter from a symposium anthology, Anfinsen presented the state of protein research, specifically the scientific research on the relationships between the structure of protein molecules and their biological activity. He concluded that scientists had obtained a body of information on proteins that would allow for the next stage of research on the effects of modifications on the functional capacity of protein molecules. He concluded his address with several questions that were intended to steer the direction of subsequent research on protein structures.
