Biographical Note

Florent Cunier, 1812-1853, was a prominent Belgian physician based in Brussels who specialized in studies of the eye. Along with his French contemporary, Frederic Joseph Hairion, Cunier was one of the first physicians to use a system of lenses in trial frames to determine a patient's refractive error in order to prescribe corrective lenses.
