Biographical Note

Pierre Francois Olive Rayer was a leading French dermatologist. He was the first to describe ecthyma, erythema annulatum pityriasis des levres, black hairy tongue, flux sebace, and plaques jaunatres des paugiers. His work on dermatology, Traite theoretique et pratique des maladies de la peau, is considered one of the best of the early nineteenth century.
