Historical Note

The USPHS Clinical Society was organized at the Baltimore Marine Hospital in 1946 under the leadership of Dr. John D. Lane, Jr. Originally titled the Marine Hospital Medical and Dental Association, its goals were improving the quality of medical care and stimulate research at the Marine Hospitals and to foster better working relations among the hospitals. In 1950 its title change to the USPHS Clinical Society. In 1975 past society presidents determined... the society was no longer necessary and it was disbanded.
