Collection Summary

The films address multiple topics related to nursing and health and include titles on broader disciplines and those outside medicine--humanism, theology, philosophy. Medical ethics, the training of nurses, home health care, loneliness and anxiety, human sexuality, and interviews with thought leaders of the day are included. Note that if a title includes an HF# or NLM call# in parentheses, the library holds an individually cataloged copy of that title, with an analog viewing copy available at NLM.

Custodial History

The National Library of Medicine received these films in 2017 from the library of the Catholic University of America's nursing school, founded in 1932 and recenly renamed the Conway School of Nursing. The school offers bachelor's, master's and Ph.D degres in nursing and related specialties and has been recognized for its program offerings, quality of faculty, and commitment to care of vulnerable populations. The library weeded its collection of instructional and educational films in preparation for renovations and the repurposing of traditional library spaces.
