United States Navy Dept. Bureau of Medicine and Surgery applications collection
Collection consists of character reference letters and applications for examination to be Navy Surgeons, submitted to the Navy Medical Board in Philadelphia, Pa. The letters describe an individual's personal character, as well as their previous medical experience or training. Many are written by the commanding officers of current assistant surgeons aboard Navy ships who seek formal medical training.
Vernon E. Wilson Papers
Dr. Vernon E. Wilson (1915-1992) was a nationally known leader in medical education and an innovative administrator of medical programs in academia and government. Although the collection covers the years 1953 through 1981, the bulk of the records were created in the 1970s.
Ward Darley Papers
Ward Darley was Professor of Medicine, 1946-1956, and Dean, 1945-1948, at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Many items in the collection relate to the Association of American Medical Colleges (1958-67), the American Medical Association (1964-66), the American Academy of General Practice (1960-67), EDUCOM (1964-68), and the White House Conference on Health (1965-66).
