Description

In this article, Anfinsen, Lowry, and Hastings presented a method that permitted histological examination and quantitative enzymatic study of individual freeze-dried sections of tissue in order to study enzymatic localization in the various layers of the retina. Published shortly before Anfinsen received his Ph.D. from Harvard in 1943, this is a quantitative, histochemical study of the retina in which the three researchers adapted an earlier technique... for the identification of chemical components in cells and tissues that was developed by Kaj Linderstrom-Lang and K.R. Morgan.
