Biographical Note

Born in Detroit, MI, Mary Eugenie Maver received a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Chicago in 1926. After beginning her career as an research associate in bacteriology at the same school, Maver joined the staff of the National Institute of Health in 1930. She became a member of the National Cancer Institute's staff when it was formed in 1937. She remained with NCI until her retirement in 1965.
