Scope and Contents

The activities of the School of Medicine's Department of Surgery during Swan's tenure as chief from 1950-1961 are documented in this series. Materials include reports, newsletters, information booklets, manuals, guest books, historical summaries of the university, and films. Much of the material was written by Swan himself, including the editorials in the department newsletters and the annual reports from 1950-1961. Swan is also the narrator of the instructional film "How to Make Medical Movies" produced in 1959. The series is arranged chronologically by folder date, with bulletins and annual reports listed at the end.
