Series 1: Legal Papers, 1949-1975

 Series

Scope and Contents

The Legal Papers series contains chapter charters and related documents as well as legal-size material from the Papers of Philip Reichert and the Papers of William Nelligan. The series chronicles the growth of the College in its early years as chapters were established throughout the country. Although most of the files contain less than ten documents, reflecting either the lack of business transacted with that particular chapter or the loss of documents,... a few of the larger files are of particular interest. The folders for Delaware and Washington, DC, for example, contain many documents dealing with the founding of the College. Material in the Pennsylvania folder documents both that chapter's importance and the legal difficulties the College encountered in forming a chapter there.
