Scope and Contents From the Series: The correspondence (1972-73)of the Committee on Survey and Statistics(COMSAS)originated from the Board Liaison Charles Sargent. Doris Bolef, Chair of the Committee, makes up most of the material in the series. Peter Stangl and Nelson Gilman, the Board Liaison, also contributed. The Survey of Surveys reviewed all previous survey work on medical libraries. The Committee polled the BMLA, ERIC, federal sources, and regional groups for information on completed surveys. In 1955, program files were organized by school except for the Emory and Columbia programs. These materials, including questionnaires mailed to their graduates from 1951 to 1955, are located in the general committee files. Helen B. Schmidt's correspondence is interfiled in the series. The Recruitment Committee was a subcommittee of the Standards Committee before 1948. In 1966 it attained committee status and existed as of 1971-72.

Scope and Contents From the Series: Membership lists are placed at the beginning of the series along with rosters of members of the committee and blank application forms. A committee procedure manual c. 1957-61 is placed near the begining of the series. Institutional Memberships for the period from 1956-circa 1963 have information on the size of the library, staffing, and history. After 1963 a new form dropped this information and required instead a list of current subscription journals. These have been discarded. Rejected...
